Belgian Congo Bayaka Mask, Circa 1930
This exceptional hand-carved Bayaka ceremonial mask originates from the former Belgian Congo, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its dramatic vertical composition features two expressive carved faces, rounded projecting ears, a tall conical crest, and geometric decoration in earthy red, ivory, ochre, and charcoal pigments. Natural cracks, pigment loss, perforations, and a richly aged patina highlight its historical and handcrafted character. Presented on a minimalist black metal stand, it makes a powerful statement in a curated interior or collection.
Dimensions: 41" H × 15" W
Natural wear, cracks, pigment loss, and surface variations are consistent with the age and handcrafted nature of this circa-1930 piece.
